Greek bond issue raises US$11.3 billion

ATHENS -- Greece said Monday it sold euro8 billion (US$11.3 billion) worth of government bonds in the first issue of the year, which was heavily oversubscribed despite international concern over the country's debt crisis. The general director of the Public Debt Management Agency said the 5-year syndicated issue, seen as a key test of the government's ability to raise capital from wary international markets, attracted a total of euro 25 billion in offers.
