HTC to offer local VIP customer service

TAIPEI -- Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC Corp. will announce a new after-care service this week for customers in its home market with “very important person (VIP)” offerings.
The new service is to be announced by HTC North Asia President Jack Tong at a press conference on Sept. 2, before the company begins local salesof its 5-inch Butterfly 2 flagship phone that same evening, according to HTC.
Details of the VIP customer service, however, were not disclosed.
The Taoyuan-based manufacturer has been working to improve its after-care services to retain customers amid shrinking sales and market share.
In February this year, HTC announced an after-care service for customers in the United States that offers a one-time, free cracked-screen replacement for every new purchase of any HTC One flagship series phone.
HTC said it has heard from customers that there was a need to make sure the money spent on premium devices went further, at no additional cost, and decided it was time to provide extra services to care for these phones.
The service, called “HTC Advantage,” also promises that U.S. owners of the HTC One, HTC One Mini and HTC One Max receive major Android updates for two years from the day they purchase the phone, along with free additional online storage of 25GB to 50GB, HTC said.
