South Korea industrial output up as mobile, semiconductor exports grow

SEOUL--South Korea's industrial output rebounded in June from two months of decline, with mobile and semiconductor products leading the way, government data showed Wednesday.

Production in the mining, manufacturing, gas and electricity industries in June rose 2.9 percent from May, Statistics Korea said.

The growth followed a 0.1 percent on-month decline in April and a 2.7 percent fall in May.

Production of semiconductors and parts surged 11.2 percent on-month, pushed by greater demand for mobile handsets in South Korea and abroad.
