Acer's Chromebooks top Q1 US consumer market

TAIPEI -- Acer Chromebooks topped the U.S. consumer market during the first quarter of the year with a 46.7 percent market share, the Taiwan-based company said Monday, citing data from the NPD Group, a market research organization.

Since its first Chromebook — the Acer AC700 — was launched in 2011, Acer Chromebooks “have received wide acclaim from consumers and media alike,” Acer said in a statement.

The Acer C720P Chromebook won the Verge's “The Best Chromebook You Can Buy” title, while the Acer C720 Chromebook was named a winner by Tech and Learning at its annual International Society for Technology in Education Best of Show Awards.
