TAIPEI--The successor to HTC Corp.'s (宏達電) popular Butterfly flagship phone series has received a green light from Taiwan's communications regulator, the National Communications Commission (NCC), to be sold in Taiwan.
The device, called the "HTC Butterfly 2," received the commission's approval on June 20, meaning that the high-end smartphone could be available in local stores in the coming weeks, according to the NCC's website.
The new handset supports full-spectrum 4G LTE connectivity, including the 700 MHz, 900 MHz and 1800 MHz frequency bands, NCC data revealed.
HTC declined to comment on products that have not yet been unveiled when contacted Monday.
Once the Butterfly 2 is launched, it will become the fourth model in the popular Butterfly series following the Butterfly, the Butterfly S, and the limited edition Hello Kitty-branded Butterfly S.
