TAIPEI -- Mercedes-Benz Taiwan Ltd., the best-selling imported luxury brand in Taiwan, plans to beef up its presence in Kaohsiung and will begin work on two more showrooms in the southern city this week, the company said Tuesday.
In collaboration with local dealers Supreme Motors and Capital Motors Inc., the German brand will hold groundbreaking ceremonies at the two sites Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, as part of a general expansion project, the company said in a statement.
Both Supreme Motors' full-fledged autohaus and Capital Motors' showroom are expected to begin operations in 2015, Mercedes-Benz Taiwan said.
Mercedes-Benz sees great potential in Kaohsiung because of the rising employment and stable prices the city has experienced since the merger of Kaohsiung city and county, it said.
The city's ability to attract domestic and foreign investment has also demonstrated the region's potential to be one of Taiwan's economic powerhouses, the company said.
As part of Mercedes Benz's expansion plan, Capital Motors is also planning to build a brand new autohaus facility in Taoyuan, northern Taiwan, in 2015 that will be the biggest Mercedes-Benz showroom in Taiwan once completed.
In addition, its many other authorized dealers are “committed to upgrading both their facilities and systems to offer a more comprehensive product portfolio and the best possible customer experience,” the statement said.
