HTC One mini 2 to hit UK market on June 30

TAIPEI -- The stripped-down version of HTC Corp.'s flagship smartphone will be released in the United Kingdom on June 30, according to a pre-order page of online retailer Amazon.com Inc.'s UK website.

The HTC One mini 2, however, will carry a higher-than-expected price of 498.85 British pounds (US$840) based on Amazon's pre-order page.

In an emailed reply to CNA on Sunday, HTC did not give any specific date of the availability of the smartphone, and referred to its press release announcing the One mini 2 earlier this month that the phone will arrive in Europe and Asia in June.

The Taiwanese handset maker also directed CNA to a pre-order page of its UK official site, which said the One mini 2, to be sold via UK retailer Phones 4u, will cost 359.95 British pounds sterling (US$606) for a contract-free model.
