DBS Huashan branch opens doors

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Setting eyes on the growth potential of Taiwan's asset management, DBS Bank Taiwan on Wednesday opened a new branch near Huashan Creative Park and announced two high-yield U.S. dollar (USD) time deposit plans.

DBS Bank Taiwan General Manager Jerry Chen (陳亮丞) yesterday hosted the opening ceremony of the Huashan branch. In order to ride the wave of the burgeoning asset management market in Taiwan, Chen said, each new branch has a built-in private banking room.

Chen said that the establishment of the Huashan branch aims not only to improve DBS' presence in Taiwan, but also to bring DBS Taiwan's clients a whole-new service experience by installing premium-class facilities.

Chen said that customers can feel the difference instantly when they set their foot in the Huanshan branch, where arc-shaped space and ergonomic chairs prevail.

To mark the opening of the Huashan branch, Jerry Chen yesterday announced the availability of two USD-based time deposit plans, the last application of which will be June 30.

Local clients of DBS Treasures and DBS Banks offshore banking units are now entitled to 6-month USD time deposit with 1.5-percent prime rate and a 12-month USD time deposit with 1.68-percent annual interest rate. The minimum and maximum of USD time deposit plans are US$20,000 and US$2 million.
