TAIPEI -- Tigerair Taiwan, a budget carrier joint venture between Taiwan's China Airlines (CAL, 中華航空) and Singapore's Tiger Airways, began recruiting staff Friday for 180 job openings ahead of its launch in November.
The 180 positions include 88 flight attendants, as well as pilots and ground staff, Tigerair Taiwan said.
It said flight attendants will be offered a monthly pay of over NT$50,000 (US$1,639), while pilots and ground staff will receive competitive salaries.
The recruitment process began Friday and selection will be completed in June, the airline said.
Interested persons are encouraged to sign up on the website yes123, a local online human resources company, during the application period, which will run until April 13, Tigerair Taiwan said.
In December, CAL and Tiger Airways announced plans to set up Tigerair Taiwan to tap into the fast growing budget airline business.
CAL holds a 90 percent stake with its investment of NT$1.8 billion (US$59 million) in the new carrier, which has capital of NT$2 billion.
In the initial stages of its operations, Tigerair Taiwan will offer flights between Taiwan and destinations in Northeast and Southeast Asia.
Meanwhile, V Air, a low-cost subsidiary of Taiwan's TransAsia Airways (復興航空), is scheduled to launch operations in September and is expected start showing a profit by next year.
