McDonald's to promote breakfast with free food

TAIPEI -- McDonald's restaurants in Taiwan will hand out more Egg McMuffins free of charge this year as part of its annual campaign to encourage people to get up early and start the day with a good meal.

During its McDonald's Breakfast Day campaign, the chain's stores in Taiwan will each give away 1,000 free egg muffins, starting at 7 a.m. March 17, the restaurant said on its official website.

This year, the fast food chain is aiming to hand out 400,000 free Egg McMuffins during the campaign, exceeding last year's 340,000.

Last year, consumers began to line up at McDonald's stores for the free sandwiches early in the morning, some as early as 4 a.m.
