Mercedes-Benz Taiwan passes firm's '13 global sales growth

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Mercedes-Benz cars posted new historic sales records, both globally with a 10.7-percent growth compared to 2012, and with a 25-percent increase locally. Daimler AG's smart fortwo achieved the second best-ever sales results in Taiwan.

This was supported by world-class financing after-sales performance, including the launch of a large number of innovative new products and services.

On the product and marketing side, the launch of New Generation Compact Cars, the CLA-class and Mercedes' flagship model, the New S-Class, successfully attracted younger buyers while strengthening the loyalty of its traditional customers.

The New E-Class reclaimed segment leadership immediately after launch, Mercedes-Benz Taiwan said.

Since the auto giant's Network Expansion Project kicked off in 2012, sales of Mercedes' new models at the CMI-KuanDo and LienLi-ChungLi distributors' full-function Autohauses have continuously gone off the charts. “With all these efforts made in 2013, we achieved the fifth consecutive championship in imported luxury car segment, and are well on track for the future,” said Mercedes-Benz Taiwan.

Relating to the view about automotive market development in 2014, Mercedes-Benz Taiwan said the total passenger vehicle market has reached to 335,000-plus in 2013, with a year-on-year growth of 4.2 percent.

With the global economy continuing its recovery, Mercedes-Benz Taiwan said it believes the passenger vehicle market will also show positive momentum this year, and expect a growth of at least 4 percent.

“We are again a bit more optimistic about the premium and luxury segment that grew by 6 percent last year, and should continue to increase by more than 5 percent in 2014,” Mercedes-Benz Taiwan added.

In line with it global strategy, Mercedes-Benz Taiwan will further invest into its three brands, to ensure they remain highly desirable and admired by both customers and the general public here in Taiwan.

First of them will be the New GLA, the fifth SUV and fourth new compact car of Mercedes-Benz.

Moving over to Mercedes-Benz Taiwan's traditional customer segments, the New S-class W204 has been by far its most successful mid-size sedan yet; however, similar to the New S-class, the New C-Class will take this to another level. The New C-Class W205 adopts a progressive approach with its clear, yet emotional design, its class-leading interior, and further improved efficiency.

Despite Daimler Trucks being the world's largest truck manufacturer, Mercedes-Benz Taiwan also distributes Mercedes-Benz Trucks, with its Actros model/line being well established in the local market.
