TAIPEI -- Taiwan-based Innolux Corp. remained the largest LCD panel supplier to Chinese TV brands in October, thanks to adjustments in its product sizes, according to a research report from NPD DisplaySearch.
The market advisory firm found that global LCD TV panel shipments to Chinese TV makers totaled 5.75 million units in October, up 3 percent from September.
The number is forecast to hit a full-year high of 6.54 million units in November, when most Chinese TV manufacturers increase their inventories to prepare for the year-end holiday season, and is expected to slide to 6.05 million units in December and 4.79 million units in January, NPD DisplaySearch predicted.
Innolux still accounted for the largest share of the Chinese LCD TV panel market in October, as the company adjusts its product portfolio to new sizes, such as 40 inches, while increasing its shipments of ultra-high resolution 4K2K LCD TV panels, according to NPD DisplaySearch.
Chinese player Shenzhen China Star Optoelectronics Technology Co. and South Korea's LG Display Co. came in second and third, respectively, followed by BOE Technology Group Co. of China, AU Optronics Corp. of Taiwan and Samsung Display of South Korea, the report said.
NPD DisplaySearch, however, did not break down each company's market share or shipments.
Innolux reported net income of NT$685 million (US$23 million) for the July-September quarter, or NT$0.08 per share, showing a decrease of 83 percent from the previous three months.
The Miaoli-based company expected its large-sized panel shipments to drop by 6 to 9 percent sequentially in the fourth quarter, with small- and medium-sized panel shipments projected to decline by 3 to 5 percent.
