Carmaker Renault sales slip 3.2% in third quarter
AFPPARIS--French carmaker Renault said Thursday its sales slid 3.2 percent to 8.0 billion euros (US$11.0 billion) in the third quarter due to exchange rate effects and a halt in its activities in Iran.

Nevertheless Renault said it is maintaining its 2013 outlook for sales growth and a positive automotive operating margin.
Registrations of its Renault, Dacia and Samsung Motors brand vehicles increased by 3.1 percent in the period from July through September, but car sales dropped 3.4 percent to 7.5 billion euros.
“The depreciation of several emerging market currencies (Brazilian real, Russian ruble, Indian rupee, Argentinian peso) had an impact of 5.7 percentage points,” or 439 million euros, on sales, said Sales and Marketing Director Jerome Stoll.
