AUSTIN, Minnesota -- Hormel Foods said Thursday that it's buying the Skippy peanut butter brand from Unilever for about US$700 million.

Unilever, based in the Netherlands and the UK, is one of the largest consumer products companies in the world. The company had indicated last year it was considering selling Skippy as part of a strategic review.
