HP will be bringing the ElitePad 900 to the market in January 2013. The 10-inch tablet has a shell made of aluminum and scratch-resistant glass, weighs 680 grams and is about 9 millimeters thick. With a separate Tablet Pen users can make handwritten notes on the touch screen that can later be converted into documents.
In addition HP will be selling various so-called jackets for the tablet. The Productivity Jacket for example expands the tablet with an SD slot and a keyboard, the Expansion Jacket comes with an additional battery and the Rugged Jacket offers increased protection against scratches. No announcement has yet been made about prices.
Business Notebooks from Asus
Asus is offering new business notebooks with matte displays and spill-resistant keyboards under the names Asuspro B43E and P53E. The P53E series has 15.6-inch screens, weigh around 2.6 kilograms and are equipped with Intel Celeron processors, except for the most expensive option, the P53E-SO127X, which has an i3 processor on board. The machines have 2 to 4 gigabytes of RAM and 320- to 500-gigabyte hard drives. They cost between 319 euros (US$416) and 579 euros.
The B43E model has a 14-inch screen size and an i3 processor, weighs 2.5 kilograms and costs 669 euros. All of the notebooks are available immediately.
New Monitors from ViewSonic and Acer
Viewsonic and Acer have announced new monitors with IPS Panels. The technology ensures that colors and contrast look good from all angles. Viewsonic's 23- and 27-inch models have a high gloss frame and touch-sensitive controls. Acer's S275HL comes in an asymmetrically mounted pedestal.
According to Acer, the reaction time of its displays is six milliseconds. Viewsonic promises seven milliseconds as well as having HDMI, DVI and VGA ports. Acer customers will have to make do with an HDMI input.
Viewsonic's 23-inch VX2370Smh-LED will be available from the end of October at a cost of 189 euros along with the VX2770Smh-LED which costs 319 euros. Acer's S275HL will come on the market in November for 329 euros.
