BERLIN -- Sony has unveiled a new purchasing program called Cross Buy. When gamers use it to buy a game that is out for Playstation 3 and the mobile Playstation Vita, they receive the version from the other system as a download for free.
The first Cross Buy title is the fighting game “Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale” and more games such as “Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time” or “Ratchet & Clank: Q-Force” will enter the program in the coming months.
Sony would like to better link their two game consoles in the future. The Vita will in the future serve as a controller for certain Playstation 3 games. In Little Big Planet 2, for example, there is additional information and tips on the display of the mobile console to help solve parts of the game.
The company has also announced the Playstation Mobile service, which is a selection of games for certain Android smartphones and tablets. The first hardware partners for the new offering are HTC, Asus and Wikipad. Certified devices from these manufacturers will in future have access to an individual Playstation Store, from which adapted Sony titles can be downloaded.
