Volkswagen sets sales target of 15,000 this year, aims to become Taiwan's most-imported carThe carmaker last year sold 5.1 million vehicles worldwide and vowed to become the world's No. 1 by 2018. Here in Taiwan, Volkswagen launched new versions of the following last year: Passat, Passat Variant, Tiguan, Touran, Golf Variant, Phaeton and Touareg. Sales in Taiwan exceeded 10,000 for the first time, translating into a year-on-year increase of 26 percent. As for this year, Huang Chi-li, general manager of the company that distributes Volkswagen, expressed the hope of lifting the sales volume to 15,000 to become the island's No. 1 import vehicle and No. 6 auto brand. To achieve that goal, Volkswagen will put its sales focus on the all-new Jetta as well as bring in a new version of the Passat CC, Huang said. | |||||||||||||
