McDonald's Taiwan to recruit 5,000 employeesThe company is looking for all types of employees, including clerks and 300 to 500 staff in managing positions, with the highest starting salary of NT$ 40,000, said Jessica Pan (潘瑞蓮), manager of the communications department at McDonald's Restaurants Taiwan Co. Steven Lee (李明元), chief executive of McDonald's Taiwan branch, said the local tourism, hotel and catering industries have seen a stable growth in the past year. His company anticipates that the fast food chain's business will continue to boom with the ongoing economic recovery and the upcoming opening of individual Chinese tourists later this year. The company now has 16,000 employees nationwide, said Pan. The first wave of the recruitment campaign will be launched in the second half this year, aiming to find thousands of desk clerks and hundreds of manager trainees, she said. According to Pan, with proper training, these trainees could become store managers in as early as 15 months according to previous examples. She also noted that the McDonald's is also thinking of opening to more franchise stores in the years to come. At present, only 5.6 percent of the 354 stores in Taiwan are franchise stores, she said, adding that the company expects to raise the ratio to 30 percent in 2020. The announcement came as part of McDonald's global expansion plan. The U.S.- fast food giant previously announced the recruitment of 50,000 People in America earlier this year. The company also announced that it would recruit 50,000 employees in China. | |||||||||||||
