Kindom Construction Corp. yesterday signed a contract with the Bureau of High Speed Rail under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications to construct a residential and commercial building near a future MRT station in Linkou District, New Taipei City.
The station, temporarily designated as “A9,” will be part of the MRT Airport Line linking Taipei Railway Station and the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. The line will begin operation in 2013.
The building will include 16 aboveground stories and four underground stories. The first to fourth floors of the apartment will be for commercial purposes, while the fifth to 16th floors will be for residential units measuring 20 to 35 pings and targeting first-time homebuyers. A ping measures 3.3 square meters.
“We'll offer homes that are comfortable as well as affordable for first-time buyers,” said Ma Yu-shan, chairman of Kindom.
He added that Kindom is also developing land surrounding the A8 station of the future airport line. Together, A8 and A9 will join the A7 station in boosting Linkou's status as a top residential, business and leisure district. The government is planning to build a number of low-price apartments near the A7 station.
