Japanese low cost carrier to fly 10 Airbus A320sThe announcement comes after Japan's low-fare Skymark Airlines in November said it would buy four Airbus A380 superjumbos, with an option to buy two more, as it plans to launch international routes in a deal worth US$2.8 billion. “This is a further breakthrough for Airbus in the Japanese market in just three months,” said John Leahy, Airbus Chief Operating Officer Customers, in a statement. Joint venture A&F Aviation was established by ANA and Hong Kong's First Eastern Investment Group with the aim of launching a low-cost airline in the second half of the fiscal year starting this April from Kansai airport in western Japan. The ten A320s will be leased from GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS), a division of General Electric, and will seat 180 passengers, Airbus said. | |||||||||||||
