Marathon Oil chief executive's 2009 pay falls 21 percent: AP

HOUSTON -- As Associated Press calculation shows that Marathon Oil Corp. paid its president and chief executive officer US$6.6 million in 2009, 21 percent less than in 2008. An analysis of a March 8 filing by the Houston oil company with the Securities and Exchange Commission shows Clarence P. Cazalot Jr., 59, received a base salary of US$1.4 million, a bonus of US$2.1 million, other compensation of US$225,403 and stock and option awards the company valued at US$2,845,791 on the day they were granted. By the same measure, he received US$8,344,077 the year before.
