CPC announces raised prices on domestic gas and diesel oil

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- CPC Corp., Taiwan, a state-run oil company announced raising domestic sales prices for gasoline and diesel oil products by NT$0.6 and NT$1.0 per liter, respectively, effective early this morning under the flexible oil pricing system, according to United Daily News. (UDN)

After the price raise, the 98 octane-unleaded gasoline will sell for NT$32.6 per liter, compared with the new corresponding price of NT$30.8 for 95 octane- unleaded gasoline and NT$30.1 for 92-octane unleaded gasoline. The premium diesel oil will sell for NT$27.6.

The 70 percent of Dubai crude oil price futures and 30 percent of Brent crude oil price futures fortunately remained the same as last week, due to this week's halt on price hikes for international oil. However, today's price hike reflects the price gap from CPC's low oil price adopted under the Asian Neighbor Low Price standard.

As for those living in devastated areas affected by Typhoon Morokot, with special oil price offerings, 98 octane- unleaded gasoline will sell for NT$30, while 95 octane-unleaded will be NT $28.5 and 92 octane-unleaded will be NT$27.8. The premium diesel oil will retail for NT$26.2

The raising of oil prices is expected to help cut down carbon dioxide and increase the use of energy saving measures. The other domestic oil company, Formosa Petrochemical will follow CPC's price hike.
