TAIPEI, Taiwan -- China Airlines (CAL), Taiwan's largest air carrier, will inaugurate its new headquarters in the CAL complex adjacent to the original transit hotel near the Taoyuan International Airport in February 2010, with its existing headquarters building on the intersection of Nanjing East Road and Longjiang Road to be rented out.
The CAL complex, occupying a total land area of 4.77 hectares, will have a headquarters building, a flight training center, and an airport hotel.
The 9-story airport hotel will have a total of 36 guest rooms. The CAL will commission Novotel under the Accor Group of France to operate the airport hotel, which is scheduled for official operation in November, according to CAL sources.
Han Liang-zhong, a vice president of CAL, the new headquarters will integrate all the firm's business operations, which are now spread in several places, including the existing headquarters on the Nanjing East Road, the east side of the Songshan Airport, and Taoyuan International Airport. Han said after the office relocation, the existing headquarters will empty six floors for use by renters, at a monthly rental of NT$2,000 per ping.
It's estimated that CAL will rake in around NT$ 7 million in monthly rental income, which, according to Han, will be used to cover the interest payment for bank loans borrowed to finance construction of the CAL complex.
