Nintendo hikes profit forecasts on Wii, DS

TOKYO -- Nintendo Co. on Friday raised its profit forecast by more than one quarter for the current business year on strong sales of its Wii and DS video game consoles as well as a weaker yen.

Net profit is now expected to surge 59 percent to a record 410 billion yen (US$3.7 billion) in the year to March, up from a previous goal of 325 billion yen.
