Sharp Nov. export drop drags down Thai economy

BANGKOK -- Thailand’s exports dropped 18.6 percent in November — the first negative number for five years. Thailand is heavily reliant on exports so the poor performance underlines the threat that the economy may show little or negative growth next year, according to analysts. The prevailing growth forecast for 2009 is already barely above 2 percent GDP growth, but some economists think the economy may shrink next year.

The economy of Thailand will only get worse in the months to come. Thus the government should rush to put into place more subsidies and projects to handle it, especially in agriculture exploration in the rural parts of the country. The government should also use this opportunity to implement and introduce new organization and management methods, especially in reducing corruption and cutting down the greedy political parties. Then, in 2 yrs time Thailand will be a nice country to visit and stay.
