UBS' country-wide traveling art show kicks off in Taipei

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- UBS recently announced that a traveling exhibition of 19 world-renowned contemporary art pieces from the UBS Art Collection has kicked off at the Bellavita Art Gallery, Taipei.

Entitled "Factory — 50 Years of Art and Consumer Culture," the exhibition showcases major works by artists including Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Ed Ruscha and Taiwanese artist Chen Chieh-Jen.

UBS said the exhibition takes its name from Chen Chieh-Jen's film "Factory" — a seminal Taiwanese work of recent years. The exhibition also features key Pop Art from the early 1960s in America, works by some of the most influential European artists of the 80s and 90s, as well as works from Asia's growing contemporary art scene.

"We are proud to present 'Factory — 50 Years of Art and Consumer Culture' in Taiwan", said Dennis Chen, CEO of UBS Wealth Management, Taiwan. "UBS's support of contemporary art is an important part of our heritage and is firmly embedded in our DNA here in Taiwan."

"We are very excited to be working with institutions like the Kaohsiung City Museum of Fine Arts (KMFA) and Bellavita. The exhibitions bring some of the most important works from the UBS Art Collection to a new audience," said Stephen McCoubrey, Curator of the UBS Art Collection.

Factory — 50 Years of Art and Consumer Culture will be open to the public in Bellavita Art Gallery in Taipei on Jan. 8-13, followed by a public exhibition in Kaohsiung, in collaboration with the KMFA to celebrate its 20th anniversary, for four months starting in late January.
