SIA to start A380 service to London on March 18

SINGAPORE -- Singapore Airlines (SIA) will fly the world’s largest passenger aircraft from the city-state to London starting March 18 in the first Airbus A380 commercial service to Europe, the carrier said Wednesday. London is SIA’s second destination for the double-decker plane. Service to Sydney was launched last October.

SIA, the only airline currently flying the A380, has two in service, another 17 on firm order and options on six more. The first flight to London, SQ308, will leave Changi Airport on March 18 at 0900 hours and arrive at London’s Heathrow Airport at 1505 hours.
