Philippines does not rule out signing EPA with Taiwan: secretary of trade

Philippine Secretary of Trade and Industry Gregory Domingo said yesterday the country does not rule out signing an economic partnership agreement (EPA) with Taiwan.

The timing and details of the document are still under discussion, he said.

Domingo made the remarks after a speech by Philippine President Benigno Aquino III, who expressed hopes of expanding economic and trade relations between his country and Taiwan.

But he said a free trade agreement between both countries is not possible, as the Philippines adheres to the one-China policy.
