Philippine inflation rises to 4.4% in December

The monthly rate was higher than 2.8 percent in November, when damage from successive typhoons caused shortages of vegetables and meat. The average inflation rate for 2009 was 3.2 percent compared with 9.3 percent in 2008, the National Statistics Office reported.
