SEOUL -- South Korea's industrial output rose for the 12th straight month in June in another sign the economy has recovered from the global downturn, official figures showed Friday.

Production in mining and manufacturing grew 16.9 percent last month from the same month a year earlier, Statistics Korea said in a report. Output increased 1.4 percent from May and increased 19.4 percent during the first half of the year from the same period a year earlier.
