South Korean inflation at 22-month low in June

SEOUL -- South Korea's inflation rate was the lowest for 22 months in June, figures showed Wednesday, easing fears that price rises could hamper an economic recovery bolstered by stimulus spending. The National Statistical Office said the consumer price index rose 2 percent last month from a year earlier, slowing from a 2.7 percent year-on-year rise in May.

The June figure was the slowest annual growth since August 2007.
