S. Korea’s Samsung says it wins US$1.4 billion order

SEOUL -- South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries, the world’s second-biggest shipbuilder, said Thursday it has won a contract worth 1.44 billion dollars to build two oil drilling ships.

It said the deal with an unspecified European client calls for delivery of the vessels, which are used for deep-water oil exploration, by March 2012.
