Honda to recall 580,000 mini-vehicles in Japan

TOKYO -- Honda Motor Co. said Thursday it will recall over 580,000 mini-vehicles spanning six models in Japan because of a defective fuel pump that could lead to engine failure. The 581,353 units covering six models — the Acty, Vamos, Vamos Hobio, Life, That’s and Zest — were manufactured from January 2005 to August 2007, the automaker, Japan’s second biggest, said in a report to the transport ministry.

Honda also reported to the ministry that it would repair defective power-steering in 1,573 station wagons of the Step WGN and CR-V models produced in February last year.
