Indonesia Stock Exchange opens first day of trading

JAKARTA -- The Indonesia Stock Exchange, formed by a merger of the Jakarta and Surabaya bourses, officially began its first day of trading on Monday, an official said. “Legally, we were ready to operate on Nov. 30, but business-wise, this is our first day of operation,” said Nining, from the Indonesia Stock Exchange media relations office. She said that the bourse has a total of 377 listed companies and a joint market capitalisation of nearly 2,500 trillion rupiah (US$268 billion).
