HONG KONG -- Hong Kong said Tuesday that unemployment fell to 4.3 percent between May and July, with business confidence boosted by a stronger economy.

The latest figures are down from 4.6 percent in the April-June period and below the 4.6 percent forecast by nine economists surveyed by Dow Jones Newswires.

Hong Kong's total employment climbed by 8,100 to 3,500,200, with new hiring in several sectors including retail, hotels and manufacturing, the Census and Statistics Department said.
