Most Taiwanese interested in working in China: pollAccording to the poll, 76.81 percent of respondents have either gone to China and returned, are currently working in China, or have a willingness to work in China. The poll was released during a job-related forum held in Taipei yesterday. Asked why they want to go to China, 63.82 percent cited “China's growth potential,” followed by 42.18 percent for “gaining work experience,” and 35.52 percent for “broadening the world view.” Of those who have gone to China or are interested in going, 69.81 percent cited they want to go to Shanghai, followed by 33.96 percent for Beijing. Other cities cited include Suzhou, Hong Kong and Xiamen. For people who have gone to China or are currently in the country, 42.95 percent said they were dispatched by their companies for the long term. Some 22.82 percent said they were hired by local Chinese firms, while 14.09 percent said they are in China only on a temporary basis. Of people who have working experience in China, 74.16 percent said they got a higher pay on the other side of strait, compared to Taiwan. The respondents said China's working environment is better than Taiwan in the following areas: “higher growth potential,” “getting better social connections,” and “higher salary.” As for qualities needed to succeed in China, most people cited “professionalism,” “ability to adapt to local culture,” and “need to develop connections with the locals. | |||||||||||||
