BSPA said to buy 58,000 tons of soybeans

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The Kaohsiung division of Taiwan's Breakfast Soybean Procurement Association bought 58,000 metric tons of U.S. No. 2 soybeans from Toepfer International in a tender yesterday, a trader who participated in the bidding said.

The cargo was sold at 244 U.S. cents over the Chicago Board of Trade's March contract, said the trader, who declined to be identified as the transaction was confidential. Shipment was set for Dec. 26-Jan. 9 from the Pacific Northwest and was settled on a C&F basis, the trader said. A call to the buying group was not immediately answered.
