Israeli ICT and media delegation to visit Taiwan

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- An Israeli delegation of information and communication technologies (ICT) and new media companies will visit Taiwan next week to explore cooperation and business opportunities with Taiwanese firms, the Israel Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei said yesterday.

Headed by Miki Admon, director of the high tech division in Israel's Export and International Cooperation Institute, the delegation of executives of 10 Israeli companies will arrive in Taiwan Nov. 2 for a two-day visit in the context of the fourth annual meeting of the Israel-Taiwan Joint Economic Conference.

The visit takes place under the auspices of Taiwan's Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association and Israel's Export and International Cooperation Institute and the delegation will participate in business-to business meetings with local companies in an effort to find a common base for further cooperation, according to the press release.

Raphael Gamzou, Israel's top representative to Taiwan, praised the developments between Taiwan and Israel, which he said indicate an upgrading in cooperation between the two sides in the high tech field.

He cited as an example a deal between Taiwan's Mitac and Israeli start-up company Altair that the two parties signed two days earlier in which advanced 4G cellular communication chips developed by Altair will be installed in Mitac's WiMAX devices.
