Apple wins copyright case in China

BEIJING -- U.S. electronics giant Apple Inc has won a trademark infringement suit against a Chinese corporation that used a logo similar to the U.S. company’s distinctive symbol, state media reported Tuesday.

New Apple Concept Digital Technology Co Ltd, based in the southern city of Shenzhen, was ordered to pay 400,000 yuan (about US$58,000) to Apple Inc, Xinhua news agency said.

The case was brought in the northern city of Shenyang, where a court sided with Apple’s contention that the Chinese firm’s logo of an apple with wings was too similar to its own.
