Facebook may lose 80% of users: Princeton study

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- According to a recent research from Princeton, “Facebook will undergo a rapid decline in the coming years, losing 80 percent of its peak user base between 2015 and 2017.”

In the report, researchers analyze the “adoption and abandonment dynamics” by drawing “analogy to the dynamics that govern the spread of infectious disease.”

“Ideas, like diseases,” the researchers write, ”have been shown to spread infectiously between people before eventually dying out, and have been successfully described with epidemiological models.”

Using Myspace as a study example, researchers took a closer look at the life-and-death cycle of social networks. The research was done by John Cannarella and Joshua Spechler from the department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Princeton University.

I agree. Privacy-based social platforms such as Ravetree, Zurker and EveryMe will continue to gain in popularity.
