China, ASEAN countries’ trade may increase 18%

BEIJING -- Trade between China and Association of Southeast Asian Nations will increase about 18 percent this year because a trade agreement is boosting commodity imports and exports, a Chinese commerce ministry official said today.

Total imports and exports between China and the ASEAN countries may rise to about US$190 billion from US$160.8 billion in 2006, in turn a 23 percent gain from 2005, Gao Hucheng, vice minister of commerce told a press conference in Beijing.
