China to let banks trade corporate debt, CSRC says

Bloomberg

BEIJING -- China will let banks trade corporate bonds of publicly traded companies on both the interbank market and the securities exchange, the regulator said.

"We are working with other government bodies to let corporate bonds trade in both of China's debt markets," Tu Guangshao, vice chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, said in an online interview in Beijing.

The securities regulator issued rules on Aug. 15 allowing listed companies to sell corporate bonds on a trial basis in an effort to encourage the growth of the local market for the securities.
