Taipei World Trade Center under the auspices of several government agencies, a government official said Sunday. According to the official, this year's TIIST, to be sponsored by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Education and the National Science Council, will have 16,500 square meters of exhibition floor space, larger than that of the previous year.
During the three-day exhibition, a total of 947 standard booths will be set up for individual inventors, invention groups and manufacturers from Europe, America and Asia to display their latest inventions, the official pointed out.
Entering its third year, the TIIST aims to boost international technology deals, the official said, adding that the Taiwan Venture Capital Association will also participate in the event this year to help create more trade opportunities involving domestic and foreign inventions.
According to the official, exhibitors from 11 countries took part in last year's show which had 870 booths attracting buyers and visitors.
In addition to 36 deals struck on the spot, more than 700 subsequent trade opportunities were created.
