Tsao succeeds Eric Tien, president of SEMI Taiwan, who has resigned from SEMI to pursue other interests.

Tsao assumes full responsibility for the association’s programs, products and services in Singapore and Taiwan. He is responsible for relationships with SEMI members as well as industry, government and academia in both regions.

He will also support SEMI international programs and serve SEMI members from all regions that have interests in the Singapore and Taiwan markets for technology and materials to manufacture semiconductors, displays and related electronic products.

On an interim basis, SEMI executive vice president Paul Davis will assist Tsao by managing operations in Singapore.

“I’m very pleased to have Terry Tsao on our global management team and heading SEMI operations in Southeast Asia. He joins our other regional presidents in guiding our activities in the major markets for advanced manufacturing technology,” said Stanley T. Myers, president and CEO of SEMI.

He added, “With in-depth marketing and corporate leadership experience, Terry, will be a great asset in serving our members that are located in Taiwan or who do business in the region.”

Prior to joining SEMI, Tsao was the managing director of International Data Corporation in Taiwan. Before that, he served as Asia Pacific marketing director for Trend Micro Inc. and held various marketing positions with Leo Burnett Taiwan, Far EasTone Telecommunications, and Ogilvy Advertising.

Tsao received a master of business administration (MBA) with a focus on marketing from Baruch College City University of New York and an executive MBA with an emphasis on information management from National Taiwan University.

SEMI is a global industry association serving companies that provide equipment, materials and services used to manufacture semiconductors, displays, nano-scaled structures, micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) and related technologies. SEMI maintains offices in Austin, Beijing, Brussels, Hsinchu, Moscow, San Jose, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, Tokyo and Washington, D.C.
