Taiwan sets anti-dumping tariff

TAIPEI, AFP
Thursday, March 15, 2007

Taiwan's finance ministry said Wednesday it has decided to impose interim anti-dumping tariffs on sh

oes and boots imported from mainland China, with effect from March 16.

Preliminary investigations by the economic ministry showed that imports from China have hurt domestic shoe manufacturers, the finance ministry said in a statement.

Mainland shoe producers, with the exception of one firm, will face an anti-dumping tariff of 43.46 percent for up to four months, it said.

The government will continue investigations before taking a final decision on the matter, the ministry added.
