he class, according to a survey released Friday in Hong Kong. The biggest growth is expected in retail markets in China and Eastern Europe which are predicted to grow by 15 percent.
The survey was carried out during the four-day Hong Kong Toys and Games Fair which closed Thursday.
More than 400 buyers and 700 exhibitors were questioned for the survey carried out by Oracle Added Value and released by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
The majority predicted that this year’s fastest-growing sector would be toys aimed at children aged 6 to 10 years, with educational toys’ sales predicted to rise by 12 percent this year. Creativity, logic, IQ and language-learning toys were expected to be the most popular in the educational sector. The Trade Development Council said the optimism was well-founded with orders soaring by 18 percent last year.
The fair, the biggest of its kind in Asia and second largest in the world, attracted around 1,970 exhibitors from 37 countries and 30,000 traders over the four days.
