The Dayeh Takashimaya Dept. Store in Tienmu will soon see a new neighbor as Jason Market Place will open a store in the area by the end of September.
Meanwhile, Dayeh Takashimaya is expected to terminate its 10-year business partnership with Yumaowu Supermarket Enterprise sometime later this year.
Dayeh Takashimaya has dominated in the shopping center in Tienmu for nearly ten years. The business of its supermarket store on its basement floor alone is estimated to be worth nearly NT$400 million per year. Now, its market leadership would be challenged by the upscale Jason Market Place, an affiliate of its competitor Matsusei.
To counter the competition, Dayeh Takashimaya recently finished remolding its supermarket and expanded its space by 220 percent or so in a bid to promote its services to customers.
Besides Jason Market Place, Shin-Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store is also planning to open a branch in the Tienmu area by the end of this year, and would fuel up the market competition even more.
Jason Market Place, a Singaporean store, is said to be an upscale supermarket catering to high-level consumers of the society. It’s expected to suit the lifestyle of residents of Tienmu where scores of foreign executives of multinational companies live.
