Besides securities, trading in gold and mutual funds will be also available on the Gre Tai securities market in the future.
The Gre Tai securities market, which serves the over-the-counter (OTC) market and bond trading of Taiwan, announced that securities account holders will be able to make investments in gold and mutual funds without the need of opening a separate account.
The platform, tailored for mutual fund product trading, will be launched in October at the earliest. The platform designed for gold trading will be available in the first quarter of next year at the earliest.
Gold and mutual fund products will be traded along with other financial products between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the future.
According to Huang Bin-chiung (黃炳鈞), a manager at GreTai, equity funds will be the primary category of mutual funds traded in the early stages. The total value of each fund will be a minimum of NT$300 million. Institutional investors need to apply to the GreTai securities market to get their mutual fund listed, which normally takes about eight business days.
