Foreign investors overbuy local shares by NT$20 bil.

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Local securities net bought by foreign investors last week shrank 39.61 percent to NT$20 billion, with Hon Hai Precision Industry (鴻海精密) being the highest overbought positions.

The Taiwan Stock Exchange (台灣證券交易所) on Monday announced that the securities net overbought position by foreign investors was NT$20 billion during the week of June 23-27. This represented the difference between NT$107.84 billion securities bought and NT$87.84 billion securities sold.

The accumulated net overbought position by foreign investors, during the period year to June 27, was NT$277.74 billion. This represented the difference between NT$2.68 trillion securities bought and NT$2.39 trillion securities sold.

According to TWSE's data, the market capitalization of the shareholdings of foreign investors was NT$9.81 trillion as of June 27, or 37.03 percent of the total market capitalization. This is higher by NT$40.80 billion than that a week ago.

The three securities that reported the highest overbought positions, in terms of thousand shares, by foreign investors during the week of June 23-27 were: Hon Hai Precision Industry at 54,017, Innolux Corporation (群創光電) at 46,963 and AU Optronics Corporation (友達光電) at 46,921, respectively.

The three securities that reported the highest oversold positions in terms of thousand shares, by foreign investors during the week of June 23-27 were: Shin Kong Financial Holding Co. (新光金控) at 22,864, China Petrochemical Development Corporation (中石化) at 19,783 and Primax Electronics (致伸科技) at 18,133, respectively.

The securities net overbought position by foreign investors was NT$33.12 billion during the week of June 16-20. This represented the difference between NT$137.22 billion securities bought and NT$104.1 billion securities sold.
