TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Sercomm Corporation (中磊), a telecom broadband solution provider, and Novatek (聯詠), a flat panel display solution provider, raked in record high revenue figures in May.
Sercomm's consolidated revenues were pegged at NT$2.08 billion, up 23 percent from a year ago. The figure was also a 12-percent growth month-on-month. It was the first time for the company's sales to hit the NT$2 billion mark.
Sercomm is riding on the wave of telecom companies' expansion in the broadband service, and is actively pursuing digital media businesses in the broadband field. The company will focus on providing smart home monitoring and optical fiber-related equipment. The company's consolidated revenue totaled NT$8.603 billion in the first five months, up 14 percent from the same period last year.
As local telecom companies recently launched the 4G LTE broadband service, Sercomm is set to roll out a series of value-added services in the future, such as the Internet of Things and the Internet of Vehicles, the company said, adding that it maintains a positive outlook.
Novatek's consolidated revenue in May totaled NT$4.495 billion, which was a 17.59-percent increase year-on-year. May marked the second consecutive month for the company to hit record-high revenues.
Novatek said the growth was driven by higher demand for panel and TV integrated circuits. The company's sales registered NT$19.45 billion in the first five months, up 16 percent from the previous year. Novatek maintained it does not see any negative factors in the foreseeable future, but said the growth momentum might slow a bit in the third quarter.
